Springtime and a Contest!

This past Easter Sunday was SUCH a beautiful day!  After we left lunch at Ben's sister's house I just wanted to be outside.  I'm not a big hiker nor am I a very good athlete.  But, I'm really good at laying on a blanket and enjoying being outside!
Ben and I are in the midst of reading Mockingjay (the last book in the Hunger Games trilogy) so, we grabbed the book, a blanket, our waters and headed for a nearby park.  We found a good spot that was partly shaded, partly sunny and I read aloud as the sun soaked our faces.  It was nothing short of a perfect afternoon.  Well, until an ant made his way into a crevice in my water bottle... but Ben got him out!  Seriously, critters and I don't get along.  I know they're necessary for keeping the ecosystem in harmony and all, but all those creepy crawly things are not friends of mine.  In fact, I didn't realize until Monday that I'd been attacked by a giant spider!  I felt something itching on my arm Sunday afternoon, but it wasn't until the next day when I realized I had a golf ball sized bite on the side of my arm that I'd barely made it out of the park with my life!

Ok, might be a bit of an exaggeration, but geez... it itches like crazy.  It wasn't getting any better so I went to the doctor yesterday and even she was in shock at how big the bite was!  You know it's bad when you can shock the doctor.  She wasn't sure what exactly had done it, but said the treatment was the same: steroids.  My first two doses came in the form of a shot and the next dose will be pill form.  So, if I win this mud run on Saturday, you'll know why.  HA!  Totally kidding.

Now, I'm not really scared of shots but figured that was a good excuse to go by Starbucks and get my new favorite drink - Passion Tea Lemonade (sweetened) - and you better believe I went with a venti.  Woot!

Because I'm obsessed with this drink, I've posted a few too many pictures about it on Instagram and several people have mentioned that they have to try it.  So, here's your chance (or to get another drink of your choice)!  All you have to do is leave a comment below with the title and author of the book you're currently reading (or your favorite book).  That's it!

You have until tomorrow at midnight to post your comment and then I'll choose a response at random and announce the winner on this week's
Fabulous Friday post!

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Not the biggest Starbucks fan, but I cant pass up the chance to share about good books and learn what everyone else is reading. After the Hunger Games Trilogy I started reading Kristen Cashores Graceling series and I am currently on book 2 "Fire" waiting on the release of book 3 in May! And I totally agree about creepy crawlies. ICK! Feel better soon.

Since I finished reading the Narnia series for my bedtime story, I have started The Enchanted April by Muriel Barbery. And yes...I like to read fiction before bed. Since kids enjoy stories before bed, I figured it would be a good practice to adopt. :)
And...come see me soon!!! Denver has many amazing things waiting for you and your camera to capture!

"God As He Longs For You To See Him" by Chip Ingram. Not a big reader and trying to force myself to read several books this year. This is my 3rd of the year so far, which is about 3 more than I read all last year. :)

Girl - I made the mistake of telling Ella you got bit by a spider. (I've been trying to teach the kids about nice bugs, mean bugs, & mean bugs that we like bc they eat bugs.) She's so stinkin' worried about you & afraid that you cried when you got a shot. I told her you were tough & got a treat afterwards. :)

What am I reading...well, I have Growing Up Colt by Colt McCoy on my coffee table, waiting for me to start. I know that shocks you to no end. \m/ Hook 'em!

Arnaldo Silva is in Puerto Rico right now, but I (his wife - Shellie) am going to answer for him. He always has a book in his hand and when I asked him what his favorite is he couldnt' answer me right away. He texted me the one that he is currently reading but it got lost somewhere in cyberspace. SOOOO all that to say I am going to write down one of the books he has read several times and I have heard him recommend it many times. It is a book from C.S. Lewis" The Screwtape Letters".

I loved the Hunger Games trilogy... Suzanne Collins is brilliant! Right now, I'm reading The Romanov Bride by Robert Alexander-- a fascinating, maybe-true story about an interesting, little-known time in world history. I'm liking it, when I get the chance to pick it up!

My favorite book ever is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. A very inspiring, modern day fable. That drink sure looks like summer to me! ;)

Although all 3 of my kids and my fiancé are avid readers, I'm just not. There, I said it! But I'm happy to report that I actually started reading a real book (as opposed to a magazine, newspaper, or technical manual) 2 days ago! Yay for me! I'm reading "Time Enough For Love" by Robert Heinlen. So far, so good. Maybe this reading stuff is not so bad after all!...Becky Lewis
